Synopsis:
Before the Mayan classical age, a village shaman living on the Yucatan peninsula discovers that he can communicate directly with Chaahk, the Rain God, who visits him daily in the form of a sand trout. They agree to swap bodies for a season so Chaahk can learn about humankind. When Chaahk discovers it's more complicated than he imagined, he needs to seek the help of the mighty priests who live in Temple City so he can return to The Underworld safely.
This magical adventure novel is set during a formative period of Meso-American history. The author has included rich details about the way of life three thousand years ago and injected colorful characters to bring the ancient people to life.

For those of us familiar with Western legends, the name Merlin is immediately recognizable from the King Arthur stories. Yet how much do we know about Merlin's life before he met Arthur? We assume he is just a powerful and wise man, but when we peer into his childhood we see something much more fascinating. Merlin is born of the sea and is composed of stone.
